As one of the most widely used media, TV is a main medium for distance education. Boosted by the development of cable, satellite, and IPTV, TV is a core medium for distance education along with the internet. As TV lectures are open to the general public as well as KNOU students, they represent KNOU to the outside world. Since 1996 when cable TV was first introduced in Korea, KNOU has been broadcasting lectures through its own TV network, OUN.
